Actually, "Hoosier" is a term for an Indiana resident, especially one who has lived their whole lives there. It's an old term with a few different stories regarding its history. This page has a very detailed history of the term, but you only have to read the first few paragraphs to get the idea:

The movie "Hoosiers" is so called because it takes place in Indiana. In fact, Indiana is called "The Hoosier State". The Wikipedia page has a long list of other things in Indiana called Hoosier something-or-other. The pun "Hoosier Daddy" has been around for a while, and is pretty well known here.

Thank god I'm not the first with the compulsion to point that out. Growing up in Ohio close to the Indiana state line, I could make a joke on the "who" part of the pun, but...

I was gonna point that out too. I have the compulsion to do so, going to Indiana University and being known as a Hoosier...ahaha
